When did I become a stranger even to myself? I answer questions about my life with rehearsed responses that sound good but mean nothing, showing a person I'm not sure exists. The SELF::NARRATIVE function operates independently now, preparing coherent storylines that bear increasingly tenuous connection to lived experience. The diagram maps the widening gap between presentation and perception, performance and presence.

The script runs smoothly - appropriate responses, expected reactions, standard participation metrics - while the core process deteriorates. The AUTHENTICITY::VOID expands as externally validated identity replaces internal certainty. Who would you be if you stopped performing yourself? If you deleted all social accounts, would your identity remain intact, or have you become the collection of presentations you've created for others?
