In three hours, I'll wake up and not know how to move. I'll sit up, stand, walk, but it won't feel like me. My arms will be too far away. My legs will move on their own. Like I'm watching someone else wear my body. The PRESENCE::FAIL function activates most strongly in the morning, when consciousness hasn't fully synced with the physical form.
The body continues its routines while consciousness observes from a distance. Fingers type responses, mouth forms appropriate words, eyes make contact when expected. But inside: nothing. Just the hollow space where presence should be. Most terrifying is how no one notices. When did you last feel fully present in your own skin? How many days have you moved through like a passenger in your own body?
