ARCHIVE FILE // CLASSIFIED
I check my phone 47 times a day. I know because it tells me so, tracking my habits better than I can track myself. Each notification makes my heart skip - someone might need me, or worse, be talking about me. The apps know exactly when I'm most vulnerable, sending their little dopamine hits when my guard is lowest. My thumb swipes the same patterns so often I find myself doing it even when the screen is black.
The diagram maps my behavior perfectly - each action creates data, each data point refines the algorithm. I'm caught in a feedback loop of my own creation. The system knows what I'll do before I do it, anticipating my needs with terrifying accuracy. Have you noticed how your feeds seem to read your mind sometimes? When was the last time you had a thought that wasn't somehow predicted by your device? We're becoming so predictable, even to ourselves.
